Extrinsic Value of
Options
The price of an option
minus its
intrinsic value
is the extrinsic
value of an option.
Extrinsic value is
also known as time
value or time
premium. An
out-of-the-money
option's premium is
wholly constituted
of extrinsic value.
Note: after
an option expires,
it has lost all its
extrinsic value.
