An option quote has four characteristics:

1- Underlying Stock

This refers to the particular stock to which the option is related such as IBM or Microsoft.

2- Expiration Date

The last day that the option may be traded.

3- Option Type

This would be either call or put.

4- Strike Price

For example, an Apple option quote may have the form of AAPL January 130 Call.
