Buying call options is mainly a strategy used by speculators to enhance their income. When a trader buys a call it means that he is bullish about the stock market, the underlying stock, or the index.

Buying a call works well when a particular stock moves upward rather quickly. A trader can spend a small amount of money into a large amount of money if his trade is successful.

In buying a call a trader intends to make as much money as he can in as short a time period as possible. The trader expects that the underlying stock will increase in price. If that does not happen then he loses the premium and not any more than that.
